Antonio's Story

4 years ago, Antonio became homeless. But it didn’t happen in one day. First, it was relationship troubles. Then, he lost his job due to the company being bought out. Eventually, he had nowhere else to turn but the streets. “I stayed in camps, on the streets, and eventually found my way to New Visions,” says Antonio.
Recently, we had the great privilege of moving Antionio into an apartment of his own after 4 years of being unhoused. Reflecting on his goals for the future, Antonio says, “My mom taught me to cook at a young age. I haven’t done that for a long time, but I’m excited to do that again now that I have my own place.”
While it took the partnership of many different people and organizations to help Antonio overcome his barriers and become housed, he is particularly grateful to his team of caseworkers at New Visions. “Dasiti is the upper cut,” he says, “Destyni the karate chop, and Miss Nicole is the sonic boom!! Triple threat team right there!” We’re thrilled to contribute to Antionio’s victory over homelessness, and we’ll continue working alongside of him and others who keep fighting for stability and hope.
