Kevin , Justine, and Meatball's Story

Kevin, Justine, and their dog, Meatball, have lived by the river, on the street, and in their van for the past several years. They lived in those conditions and moved from place to place in order to survive, but 8 months ago, they came to the end of their rope. With nowhere else to turn, they came to New Visions for help.
Our casework team was able to immediately help them apply for housing, but it was going to take some time. During that time, they helped with cleaning around our campus and unloading donations for our office in order to keep busy and give back. Two weeks ago, we were finally able to move this family into their very own apartment!
Reflecting on their time in homelessness, Kevin says, "Without the help of New Visions, we wouldn't have gotten off the street. I'm thankful to New Visions and to the Heartland Family Services Peer Center for being there for us when we desperately needed help. Now that we finally have housing, I'm just proud that we made it through." We're proud too, and incredibly honored to be able to help families like Kevin, Justine, and Meatball to finally have safe shelter.
