Meet Kevin, the newest member of our Omaha Veteran’s Campus team! A social worker and
mental health therapist, Kevin works with our veterans experiencing homelessness to talk
through their mental health challenges and connect them with helpful resources. A 12-year US
Army vet himself, Kevin was drawn to working in mental health because he himself struggled to
find a therapist who he could really connect with when he got out of the Army. Kevin has a
personal connection with homelessness as well, having an uncle who spent 30 years living in
homelessness. “I don’t judge how anyone ended up here,” says Kevin, “I just try to help.”
When Kevin started working with our vets a few months ago, he immediately began to build
rapport. “You see all of these statistics about homelessness and mental health,” says Kevin,
“but that only scratches the surface. Working with them every day through their reality is very
eye-opening.”
Born and raised in Omaha, Kevin considers himself a proud “Jaysker” - a fan of both the
Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Creighton Bluejays. He also enjoys following Chicago’s
professional sports teams including the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. Some of his favorite things
include chicken parm, fishing, hiking, and being with his family. Spontaneous, magnetic, and
empathetic, Kevin brings a lot of energy to his work and finds a lot of joy in being a part of
something beyond himself. Kevin is proud to be in his current position serving those who have
served our country, and we are very proud to have Kevin on our team at New Visions!
