It’s time to meet another one of our amazing staff team! Nicole helps guests on our Council Bluffs campus to get connected with the resources they need that will move them into permanent housing as well as helping with other needs that arise. As a case worker and shelter advocate, Nicole loves the atmosphere of care that is present at New Visions. “From the staff to the volunteers, everyone here cares about people,” she says, “it’s so powerful to be working in a place where everyone is on the same page and is on-mission every day!”
Nicole has helped our guests navigate systems to get their driver’s license and CDL, as well as getting guests connected with housing and helping them to make that transition into housing. “I’ve learned that there’s really no difference between the people we serve and myself,” she says, “some people just have some different interferences in life, and I want to help them overcome those things.”
Nicole is an avid crafter who loves coffee and cooking. She’s also very involved with her community, serving on several boards and committees where she can advocate for mental health services and awareness. “I feel called to make life better for EVERYONE where I live,” she says, “and that means that I will work to keep people engaged in the community by uplifting and empowering them.” Approachable, open-minded, and caring, Nicole is very proud to be where she is today. “I’ve overcome a lot,” she says, “and I’m proud to be continually moving forward and living a productive and impactful life.” We are so grateful that Nicole is a part of our team at New Visions, and we are excited to see how she will continue to work with our guests to better their lives.
