NVHS Receives Suicide Prevention Grant

We are honored to share that New Visions Homeless Services has been awarded the Staff Sergeant Fox Suicide Prevention Grant. In 2023, the suicide rate among veterans was about twice that of non-veteran adults. Among veterans receiving VA health care, those experiencing homelessness had a suicide rate 146% higher than those without a homelessness diagnosis.

Across Omaha and Council Bluffs, New Visions supports veterans through shelter, transitional and permanent housing, street outreach, and food security programs. This grant will strengthen our ability to connect veterans with support, build trusted relationships, and help them find a path forward.
